Organizations

IVHQ

IVHQ ( International Volunteer HQ) is a relatively affordable voluntourism organization with programs in forty countries across six continents. It offers a wide range of projects for different volunteers, such as: childcare, health care, wildlife, sports, arts and music, community development, and more.
It is important to note when considering project fees that IVHQ charges $299 as a registration fee, flights and travel insurance are not included, and there can be currency conversion fees; however, food and accommodation are covered. Each program may have additional small fees. Still, IVHQ is a great way to meet fellow volunteers (trust me, you'll want to) , stay with a local host family, and experience a new culture in a way traditional vacations just don't allow.
Minors can participate in some programs, as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Volunteering looks great on resumes and can expose adolescents to new cultures and ways of life. If your heart is in the right place, IVHQ is a wonderful way to expose yourself to new cultures and ways of life.

I volunteered in an orphanage just outside of Delhi with IVHQ's Child Care program. If you are interested in volunteering in Delhi use the link:

Mighty Writers

Picture
I'm so excited to be partnering with Mighty Writers! While Mighty Writers is not a travel organization, they help students develop their writing styles. The organization offers after school help to kids in kindergarten through twelfth grade. They have weekly workshops which cover many different writing styles, such as poetry, essays, and narratives. They have one on one tutoring, mentoring, and centers throughout the city.
MW is based in downtown Philadelphia.
I lead travel writing/ culture classes for Mighty Writers weekly. We cover India, Morocco, South Korea,  Brazil, and more!
